The GRYD Foundation is proud of its work with Communities In Schools and the City of Los Angeles’s Office of Gang Reduction & Youth Development (GRYD Office) to launch a free tattoo removal program to help individuals with visible anti-social and/or gang-related tattoos who reside in communities with high concentrations of youth, high levels of gang violence and high percentages of families living below the poverty line.
Through this collaborative effort and strategy, this tattoo removal program is the first of its kind!
Communities In Schools (CIS) provides the tattoo removal program as part of an overall strategy designed to help individuals who are seeking to decrease their embedment in gang life by facilitating re-integration and increasing their eligibility for employment.
Note: Tattoo removal services are not provided by The GRYD Foundation.
The GRYD Foundation provided equipment and assistance with program administration, technical assistance and evaluation in connection with the initial launch of the service at Communities In Schools in the Pacoima/Foothill and Panorama City/Mission GRYD zones.
Special thanks to the California Community Foundation for their support of this initiative!
