Helping Youth Become Helpers
When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, “Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.” Fred Rogers
There’s a lot happening not just in the news but in our own lives that can be scary. We all can use help at some point and with some thing, whether we admit it or not.
The GRYD Foundation and Mayor’s GRYD Office help youth and families find the helpers and become the helpers.
At Fall Friday Nights programming, teenagers find a safe place to be themselves, to have fun and to learn a skill or two! Young people learn basic CPR, equipping them to save a life in a time of need. Kids connect with local service providers, making it easier for them to get help and be in position to later pay it forward.
Through our programming, The GRYD Foundation and Mayor’s GRYD Office bring together the helpers and, over time, create the helpers of tomorrow.
Thanks to all the helpers who create a positive sense of community for youth and families across Los Angeles.
