Summer Night Lights Hiring

The City of Los Angeles is seeking candidates for 2020 Summer Night Lights seasonal job opportunities.  Open positions are listed below.

SNL Arts Program Coordinator

The Arts program coordinator is responsible for overseeing the Summer Night Lights (“SNL”) arts component and its contractors. The SNL comprehensive violence reduction strategy and community engagement mission is made possible in part by the artists and educators participating in the intensive instruction and cultural exchange at each program site. The SNL Art Program component will focus on arts curriculum that illustrates and embraces the historical and cultural connections between African/African-American and Latin American/Latino/Chicano(a) people while engaging community members of all ages (infants to elders.)

SNL Arts Instructors

Art programming will focus on the promotion of intercultural dialogue through the arts as a means for strengthening communities and enriching lives. SNL art forms include but are not limited to Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics, Spoken Word, Jewelry Making, Artesenia, Theatre, and Music.

SNL Fitness Instructors

Fitness programming will focus on creating an open space for local community members to gain access to diverse methods of exercising and/or dance. Through this open space, our goal will be to promote intercultural dialogue through healthy living practices as a means for strengthening communities and enriching lives.

SNL Youth Squad & Lead Youth Squad

The SNL Youth Squad & Lead Youth Squad work collaboratively with other program staff and partners to support all aspects of SNL program service delivery and community engagement at one (1) identified site.  Youth Squad are responsible for outreach, program calendar and implementation of programming.

SNL Cluster Coordinator

The SNL Cluster Coordinator works independently and collaboratively with  GRYD/SNL staff, partners and stakeholders to oversee all aspects of SNL program service delivery and community engagement at two (2) identified sites.  Cluster Coordinators are responsible for programming, implementation of an outreach plan and program calendar, management of site coordination team, along with oversight of administrative tasks and data collection.

SNL Site Coordinator

The SNL Site Coordinator works independently and collaboratively with  GRYD/SNL staff, partners and stakeholders to oversee all aspects of SNL program service delivery and community engagement at one (1) identified site.  Site Coordinators are responsible for programming, implementation of an outreach plan and program calendar, along with oversight of administrative tasks and data collection.

Sports Fellows

Made possible by a grant from the Los Angeles Chargers, The GRYD Foundation is able to hire four to five seasonal Sports Fellows for Summer Night Lights 2020.  Sports Fellows will work under the supervision and direction of The GRYD Foundation and the Summer Night Lights Sports Coordinator.  Objectives are to target sports and fitness programming to the interests of the neighborhoods and communities served and to expand SNL sports program reach and impact.  Priorities of the Chargers Sports Fellow position are to increase the number of registrations for the Summer Night Lights sports program, increase community engagement in fitness activities across all 32 program sites, and assist in collection of data and impact stories.
